09.The Mask is in Fashion
The mask is in fashion
Pondicherry – 30th September 2021

This seemingly banal image captured in the busy streets of Pondicherry reveals more than meets the eye at first glance.
As it is plain to see, everyone is wearing their anti-Covid mask while, alas, no one is wearing a helmet. Therefore, we can conclude that the fear of being contaminated by the virus is greater than the fear of having a grave accident.
Let's take a look at the statistics. Reportedly, 150,000 people died in road accidents in India in 2020 and 160,000 are the confirmed deaths in the first year of Covid from April 2020 until March 2021. Practically the same death rate. This leads us to believe that while Covid is no more dangerous than the street, it is certainly more fashionable, for sure.
Sensitive to the consumer-habit trends displayed by the general population, we advise helmet manufacturers to shift their production lines and start producing masks. Which are significantly less durable than a helmet and can be sold in larger quantities.
