Celebrities Snack Bar
Mamallapuram – 5th December 2021

It was seven in the morning. We were standing a few steps away from the famous Shore Temple of Mamallapuram when we witnessed a unique phenomenon. An orderly queue of, more or less, well-known characters gathered around a small and insignificant-looking bar, waiting for it to open.
We tried asking around, but no one could explain why anyone who is anyone suddenly wanted to go for breakfast right there. Let alone the number of people waiting in line without trying to pass each other, as usual.
Could it be that this place, like so many other cult places, has become legendary for no real reason? Could it be that they really make the best idly on the planet? Could it be that Coca Cola spread the rumour that the place was frequented by stars and so all the stars come here to see what's happening?
Unable to resist the pull of the place, we decided to queue up as well. We will try to interview the owner to get a better grasp of the nature of the phenomenon. Of course, we will also have breakfast and report back on our experience next time. Till then, be patient.
